Biography

Sophia Anna Bush was born on July 8, 1982, in Pasadena, California to Charles William Bush, a renowned advertising and celebrity photographer, and Maureen Bush, who runs a photography studio. She attended Westridge School for Girls, a small private school in her hometown where she participated in theater productions and was crowned Queen of the Tournament of Roses at Pasadena Rose Parade in 2000. She also attended The University of Southern California where she majored in journalism and minored in theater and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Sophia made her film debut in 2002 in the comedy Van Wilder opposite Ryan Reynolds. The following year she appeared in a three (3) episode arc of the racy FX drama Nip/Tuck and subsequently landed a starring role on the WB (now CW) teen drama series One Tree Hill as the bold and sassy Brooke Davis. She left school at this point to focus on her career and it paid off. In addition to the show’s success, her on-screen romance with co-star Chad Michael Murray soon blossomed into a real-life relationship and they were wed in 2005. Unfortunately for the couple, the relationship did not work out and after just five months of marriage, they separated and eventually divorced, though they continued to work together on the show. This was a very difficult time for Sophia, but she handled it all with grace and came out of it an even stronger woman.

Next up for Sophia would be the drama Supercross in 2005, the comedy John Tucker Must Die and the horror Stay Alive in 2006. In 2007, she landed the starring role of Grace Andrews in a remake of the horror/thriller The Hitcher, starring alongside Sean Bean. Her upcoming projects The Narrows and Table for Three are set to be released in late 2008/early 2009.

Outside of her acting profession, Sophia has worked as an Assignment Editor for Annenberg TV News in her spare time. Her other hobbies include horseback riding, boxing, and photography and she enjoys reading and spending time with her friends. She currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina, where One Tree Hill is filmed.
