Hairspray star Brittany Snow will forever be grateful to actresses Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel for helping her get over a devastating eating disorder. The 21-year-old actress was an anorexic in her teens and at one point weighed a skeletal 85 pounds.

She was still in recovery when she started work on 2006 movie John Tucker Must Die with Bush and Kebbel, who helped watch out for her when she was asked to diet for an underwear scene.

She says, “After nearly a month of treatment, I left a few days early to go straight to the set of John Tucker Must Die. I had gained about 10 pounds. I was 120 pounds, which isn’t bad. But I can understand why the producers wanted me in shape for a scene in my underwear. They were nice about it. They hired a trainer and suggested a diet.

“Thank goodness for my co-stars Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel. I told them, ‘You have to look out for me, because this is so hard.’ We would work out together and they would pull me off the treadmill, and Sophia would be like, ‘Maybe you should eat this.’ We had slumber parties. I started having fun, which was unheard of.”

Sophia Bush confesses that the highlight of her Fashion Week is hanging out with Gwen Stefani at the L.A.M.B. show. “She really is as cool as I thought she would be,” she tells me. “She’s down-to-earth, appreciative, so humble, and her priority is her family, but she’s so talented. To sit around and talk creativity with a woman like that? I had to pinch myself. I was like ‘what’s happening to me right now?’” She is also giddy about seeing Gwen’s one-year-old son Kingston during the show. “He had big headphones so he didn’t hear the music. She picked him up and carried him out on the runway. I was like ‘that’s the cutest baby I’ve ever seen.’”
